How do I know if my relative qualifies to be included in the Roll of Honour?
Your relative must have been either:
- Born in the Barnsley Area
- Lived or worked in the Barnsley area at the time of enlisting.
- Be remembered on a war memorial or headstone within the Barnsley area.
- Died while serving the war effort during WW1 (or died before 1921 of wounds or illness contracted while on active service.)
What exactly is the 'Barnsley area'?
Any town or village that lies within the boundaries of the Metropolitan Borough of Barnsley. This includes the following places:

What type of service personal are featured on the Roll of Honour?
Any individual who served at home or overseas with the British Army, Royal Navy or Airforce. Also anyone who served with the VAD, or as nurse. Any individual who died while serving with the Women's Army Auxillary Corps or as a munitions worker.
When will the Roll of Honour will be completed?
We aim to have the Roll of Honour finished for November 2018, to coincide with the Armistice centenary.
Where will the Roll of Honour be kept?
It will be on public display in Barnsley Town Hall.
